Police IDs suspect for teen’s rape

Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) released an identity kit of a young suspect in a rape case.

Bekkersdal Police launched a manhunt for a suspect wanted in connection with the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl.

Bekkersdal Police spokesperson Sergeant Linkie Lefakane confirmed the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit has released an identikit of a suspect believed to have raped a 15-year-old victim in an open veld near Simunye bridge at about 22:00 on New Year’s Eve last year.

The victim allegedly went partying with friends on December 31 when she was accosted by the suspect. He allegedly took her to an open veld and raped her. She managed to get help and reported the matter to the police,” said Sergeant Lefakane.

She added that the suspect is aged between 16 and 20 years old, has a slender build, and is approximately 1,6 metres tall.
He was wearing a black t-shirt and had a gold earring at the time of the crime.
