Man carrying big bags of weed nabbed in Westonaria

A man in his early 40s was arrested by Westonaria Police after he was caught in possession of large quantities of dagga.

A 43-year-old man was been arrested after he was found in possession of five large bags of dagga.

According to Westonaria Police spokesperson Sergeant Audrey Sefara, the suspect was nabbed on the N12 going towards Potchefstroom last Friday, February 3.

The N12/ R28 road patrol team was driving on the N12 in the direction of Potchefstroom and saw a suspicious-looking adult man standing next to the road carrying a big black luggage bag that looked heavy.

“They approached the man and asked to search him. Upon further inspection, they found five large bags wrapped with transparent sellotape. The bags contained dagga. We also found cash in his possession. The suspect was apprehended for dealing with and having dagga. The dagga was confiscated,” Sergeant Sefara said.

The Westonaria Police Station Commander Colonel Jurie Ferreira welcomed the arrests and thanked the police officers for being vigilant.
