Cops warn of another spike in vehicle-related crimes across district

Police in the West Rand District have warned of an increase in vehicle-related crimes in the area.

West Rand District Police Commissioner Major General Fred Kekana is concerned about the increasing number of incidents that involve theft out of a motor vehicle or theft of a motor vehicle across the district.

Theft of motor vehicles and theft out of motor vehicles cost owners a huge amount of money. In many instances, valuable property is lost as a result of such crimes,” said West Rand District Police spokesperson Sergeant Kgomotso Mogwere.

He added that most of these cases can, however, be prevented with just a little extra care and caution.

“These crimes occurs largely at the parking areas of the shopping centres, schools, hospitals, churches, recreational facilities, lodges, business and residential premises.”
