Gauteng Police has launched a manhunt for a group of suspects following a cash-in-transit (CIT) heist at the R28/ R41 intersection in Randfontein on Friday evening, February 3.

National Police Spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said a preliminary investigation revealed the cash van was heading to a depot and driving along the R28 when a group of suspects travelling in a white Mercedes-Benz Vito cornered the cash van at the intersection entering Randfontein and opened fire. Another vehicle, a white BMW also blocked the cash van.
The suspects ordered the security guards to get out of the cash van before they proceeded to blow it up. They then fled with an undisclosed amount of money.”
Mathe added that a 72–hour activation plan has been mobilised to apprehend those behind the heist.
