Rape victim IDs alleged attackers in Zuurbekom

The three allegedly took turns to rape her before disappearing in the dark, leaving the victim there.

The Carletonville Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) has released three identity kits of suspects believed to have been involved in a rape incident that occurred at approximately 20:00 in Zuurbekom near Westonaria on Friday, April 15.

According to Bekkersdal Police Station spokesperson Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the victim allegedly was about to enter her place of residence when she was accosted by three men, one armed with a firearm.

They dragged her to an open veld where the one with the firearm fired a shot as he threatened the victim. He allegedly tore off her clothes and raped her. The three allegedly took turns to rape her before disappearing in the dark, leaving the victim there.”

Sergeant Lefakane said the victim managed to walk home and reported the matter to the police. She was able to compile identity kits of the trio.

“The first suspect is tall and of slender build, between the ages of approximately 30 and 36, has a dark complexion and was wearing a blue denim long sleeve shirt and a black beanie. The second suspect is of medium build, short and light in complexion, and he is between the ages of approximately 26 and 30. The third suspect is short and of medium build, he is dark in complexion and is between the ages of approximately 25 to 30. He was wearing dark clothes with a black cloth mask. They all spoke Tsonga,” stated Sergeant Lefakane.
