Crime prevention begins with YOU!
The local CPF and Randfontein police were out in numbers at the Vleisfees to share vital sector information, contact numbers as well as crime-prevention tips.
Fighting crime is the responsibility of each and every one of us.
This was the local CPF’s message to the community, and what better place to do so than at a huge public event such as the Vleisfees in Elandsvlei on Saturday, July 30.

Besides the fun and entertainment on offer throughout the day, the CPF and police grabbed the opportunity with both hands to share vital sector information, contact numbers as well as crime-prevention tips. According to a pamphlet handed out to the public, crime prevention begins with an individual.
CPF chairperson Henry Boyce explained that Randfontein has five sectors to police.
“It is therefore important to ensure that everyone of us in communities take a stand and partake in crime prevention. Sector policing is an approach to policing by which the service area of a police station is divided into smaller, manageable areas known as sectors.
Randfontein Police have appointed sector commanders in each of these sectors to mobilise and organise communities to take robust action regarding crime prevention. Therefore the role of the community is to work hand in hand with the sector commander to establish sector crime forums and facilitate initiatives aimed at preventing crime at all levels.”
