Motorists to brace for fuel hike

Here we go again! The petrol price for both 93 and 95 unleaded will increase by almost R2 per litre while those using diesel will have to cough up a lot more.

Motorists are expected to feel the pinch as the price of fuel is set to increase on Wednesday, September 6.

According to the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy, the petrol price for both 93 and 95 unleaded will increase by R1.71 per litre, while the price of diesel is set to go up by R2.76 per litre.

The department’s Robert Maake said the increase in crude oil prices internationally was one of the reasons why the petrol price had to be adjusted.

Illuminating paraffin prices will also rise by R2.78 a litre while the price of gas will increase by R2.25 per kilogram.
