SPCA gets facelift on Mandela Day

The RandWest SPCA dolled up their Randfontein premises with bright colours and pictures of animals for Mandela Day.

The community and even SPCA staff spent more than 67 minutes of their time giving the RandWest SPCA a new look.

Being a safe haven for animals, the RandWest SPCA chairperson Brenda Eloff said the committee decided that they needed to bring in a bit of colour into the lives of the animals and staff at the Randfontein facility.

“We invited the community to join us in painting pictures of animal on the walls of the Randfontein SPCA. It was a wonderful morning painting and getting to know some community members. Our fur babies also got loads off attention,” said Brenda.

Those involved included RandWest SPCA committee members Brenda, Ansie Malan (vice-chairman), Dineshree Naidoo (secretary), Candice Cloete (member), Franna Pretorius (member), Dominique Pretorius (member), Wendy Eno (volunteer), Craig Eno (community), Vaughan Eno (community), Andre Eloff (volunteer) as well as Hannelie, Jennifer and Dennis Roebl (community).

We had a fun-filled day with lots of laughter, also celebrating a year of blood, sweat and tears where we made a big difference in the RandWest SPCA. The purpose was also to create some awareness of what really goes on behind the gates and the doors of our society.

“The SPCA office is in a horrible state and we need to clean it up. The past year we focused on keeping our doors open and restoring the kennels. It is time to clean up our offices. Staff members Junior, Corlet, Andries and Gladys have volunteered to clean the offices and help out once a week.”
