Housebreaking still on the rise in Randfontein – Mapogo crime report

Mapogo released its latest crime report which included several incidents, most of them housebreaking and theft in Greenhills and Elandsvlei.

It was a relatively quiet week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security’s client base in Randfontein.

Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse said only three incidents were reported for the period between Monday, July 4 and Sunday, July 10.

A breakdown of the incidents:

• Tuesday, July 5 at 12:12 – Shoplifting and arrest, Main Road, Middelvlei. Mapogo responded to a panic alarm signal received from the premises where it was found that a perpetrator attempted to steal items from the shop and was caught. The perpetrator was arrested for shoplifting and handed over to the SAPS for further investigation.

• Thursday, July 7 at 12:54 – Housebreaking and theft, Martin Crescent, Greenhills. Perpetrators broke the main gate rail and pushed open the gate. They forced open the safety gate and front door, stole a flat screen television and two jewellery boxes, and fled the scene.

• Friday, July 8 at 08:44 – Housebreaking and theft, Ventersdorp Road, Elandsvlei. Perpetrators gained entry onto the premises by climbing over the perimeter wall, and stole several items from the storeroom and offices.
