RWCLM holds campaign to promote a clean town

The Randfontein Station Taxi Rank was the first area to be cleaned.

The Rand West City Local Municipality recently held a cleaning campaign for World Environment Day.

RWCLM senior communications officer Godfrey Moutloali said the event that started at the Randfontein Station Taxi Rank on Friday June 10 was held in partnership with the Rand West City Waste Department, CWP, Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Lafarge, Goldfields and Rand Water, with support from AfriForum.

The purpose was to promote a clean Rand West City.

“This campaign is part of our World Environmental Day celebrations planned for the whole month throughout the whole municipality,” said Godfrey. He described the day as a huge success.

He promised that they would attend to cleanliness aggressively throughout the municipality as the towns and townships are in a shameful filthy state due to littering.

While as a municipality we continue tirelessly to remove refuse on time all the time, we have to bring in the public and educate them about cleanliness. We hope that they keep the place clean going forward once we have cleaned up, therefore part of this is education.”
