Homeowner held at gunpoint, tied up and robbed – Mapogo crime report

During one of the incidents thugs waited for the owner and when he arrived home they held him at gunpoint and tied him up. Various household items were stolen and the robbers fled the scene.

Mapogo A Mathamaga Security released its latest crime report for their client base in Rand West City.

According to operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse, four incidents were reported for the period Monday, June 6 to Sunday, June 12.

A breakdown of the incidents:

• Thursday, June 9 at 19:23 – House robbery, Shetland Street, Greenhills. Perpetrators waited for the owner and when he arrived home they held him at gunpoint and tied him up. They stole various household items and fled the scene.

• Thursday, June 9 at 20:50 – House robbery, Haarlem Street, Culemborg Park. When the family arrived home the perpetrators also gained access to the premises. They held up the family, stole a television and cell phones, and fled the scene.

• Friday, June 10 at 12:01 – Housebreaking and theft, Park Street, Randfontein Central. Whilst the owner was sleeping in the shop intruders gained entry into the shop and stole unknown items.

• Sunday, June 12 at 13:57 – Attempted theft, Maugham Road, West Porges. A man jumped over the fence and attempted to steal an electrical cable. The guard spotted him and he fled the scene.
