Housebreaking still number-one crime in town, warns Mapogo

Mapogo released its latest crime report which totals seven serious incidents, most for housebreaking and theft once again.

Mapogo A Mathamaga Security released its latest crime report for their client base in Rand West City.

According to Operations Manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse, seven incidents were reported for the period Monday, May 23 to Sunday, May 29.

A breakdown of the incidents:

• Monday, May 23 at 00:48 – Housebreaking and theft in Lark Crescent, Greenhills: Perpetrators climbed over the front wall and broke a window at the study and stole a laptop computer through the window and fled the scene.

• Monday, May 23 at 01:37 – Housebreaking and theft in Darter Road, Greenhills: Perpetrators gained entry onto the premises by climbing over the front gate and proceeded to the premises where they gained entry and stole a computer and fled the scene.

• Monday, May 23 at 21:47 – Attempted break-in in Falcon Street, Greenhills: Perpetrators damaged the electric fence when the alarm activated and they fled the scene.

• Wednesday, May 25 at 02:32 – Housebreaking and theft in Union Street, Randgate: Perpetrators broke the safety gate and window and entered the shop and stole unknown amount of stock from the store.

• Wednesday, May 25 at 02:48 – Attempted housebreaking in Darter Road, Greenhills: Perpetrators gained entry onto the property by climbing over the front gate where they then forced open the wooden door. The owner heard the noises and made alarm and the perpetrators fled the scene.

• Thursday, May 26 at 00:51 – Damage to property in Van Der Stel Road, Culemborg Park: Perpetrators cut the electric fence when the alarm activated and they fled the scene.

• Friday, May 27 at 02:30 – Housebreaking and theft in Cormorant Street, Helikon Park: Perpetrators gained entry onto the premises by climbing over a wall and forced opened the garage door and took unknown items and fled the scene.
