Mabala said they collaborated with entities such as the Rand West City Traffic Department, Community Policing Forum, Youth Desk, Tsosanang Community Youth, and the Gauteng Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs.

The objective of the school safety campaigns was to search and seize any illegal items that learners might be in possession of within the school premises,” Mabala said.

The operation was welcomed by management of both schools, as it deterred and prevented any illegal activity that may endanger the learners and educators.

She added that they also addressed the issues of bullying, drugs, gangs, discipline, dangerous weapons, substance abuse, missing persons, and gender-based violence.

“Following a tip-off we received from the learners, we arrested one suspect for dealing in dagga and supplying it to the learners,” Mabala said.
