Life Robinson celebrates their nurses

The nurses of Life Robinson Private Hospital were celebrated on International Nurses' Day on Thursday, May 12 for their hard work and commitment.

Nurses across the world were celebrated for all of their hard work and commitment recently.

Life Robinson Private Hospital also acknowledged their hardworking nurses on International Nurses’ Day on Thursday, May 12 with the theme Nursing Now: A Voice to Lead.

Merle Victor, Chief Nurse Officer at Life Healthcare said they were extremely proud of their nurses for the sacrifices they made each day to tend to their patients, and these nurses have earned the respect of an entire country for their valiant efforts during the pandemic.

Our nurses are very tired. The waves that they experienced since 2020 have really taken their toll on them. But despite that, they still show up, they come to work, they take care of our patients. By doing that they bring hope,” said Merle.

Hospital manager, Dr Marinda Overbeek said the Life Healthcare Group employs as many as 10 000 nurses across the country and celebrates them for being at the heart of patient-centred care, leading nursing care and using their voice to drive improved healthcare services and systems consistently.

“International Nurses’ Day is an opportunity for the Group to thank nurses for taking up the challenge of making ordinary care special through being mindful and thoughtful in the care they deliver,” she said.

Aligned to May 12 is Life Healthcare’s Great 100 Nurses Awards, recognising nurses who have been chosen by their peers for epitomising quality and compassion in their daily work. Launched in 2012, the Great Nurses celebration was established to honour nurses who have made a significant difference to the profession of nursing and in the lives of patients, peers, students and the community.

The initiative identifies and acknowledges the company’s top nurses in the Group on an annual basis, to commend their outstanding nursing care. Nurses are recognised as nursing ambassadors for Life Healthcare and the profession at large.”

Dr Overbeek added that the award gives nurses who join this prestigious group the opportunity to transform nursing care at the bedside and improve patient outcomes.
