Housebreaking dominates Mapogo’s latest crime list of ten incidents

In Helikon Park, a perpetrator stole three cell phones and when he was confronted he took out a knife and stabbed the victims. Mapogo Reactions Officers arrested the attacker and handed him over to the police for further investigation.

Mapogo A Mathamaga Security released its latest crime report for their client base in Rand West City.

According to Operations Manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse, ten incidents were reported for the period Monday, April 25 to Sunday, May 1.

A breakdown of the incidents:

• Monday, April 25 at 15:16 – Housebreaking and theft on Homestead Avenue, Homelake: Perpetrators broke a small window on the side of the premises, pulled boxes closer to the window and stole items from the boxes.

• Monday, April 25 at 15:40 – Attempted housebreaking on Elaine Street, Homelake: Perpetrators threw a stone through a window and opened a window, but they did not enter the area or take anything.

• Tuesday, April 26 at 10:55 – Attempted theft of a motor vehicle on Darter Street, Greenhills: Perpetrators attempted to steal the owner’s vehicle. When they were spotted the alarm was raised and they fled the scene in a white Hyundai Accent.

• Tuesday, April 26 at 12:59 – Armed robbery on Taaibos Street, Greenhills: Perpetrators entered the property, held up the occupants and stole household goods, cell phones and jewellery. The perpetrators fled in a grey Audi belonging to one of the visitors. No injuries were sustained during the robbery.

• Tuesday, April 26 at 18:20 – Attempted robbery, arrest and recovery on Kingfisher Street, Helikon Park: A perpetrator stole three cell phones and when he was confronted he took out a knife and stabbed the victims. Mapogo Reactions Officers arrested the attacker and handed him over to the police for further investigation.

• Wednesday, April 27 at 04:22 – Housebreaking and theft on Market Street, Middelvlei: Perpetrators entered the premises, stole two bicycles and household items, and fled the scene.

• Wednesday, April 27 at 16:09 – Housebreaking and theft on 1st Street, West Porges: Perpetrators entered the property by climbing over the perimeter wall, then forced open the doors, stole sound and office equipment, and fled the scene.

• Friday, April 29 at 14:14 – Housebreaking and theft on Owl Street, Greenhills: Perpetrators entered the property by lifting the gate from the rails, then forced open the front door, stole household items and fled the scene in a blue Nissan.

• Saturday, April 30 at 20:03 – Armed robbery on Van Riebeeck Street, Homelake: Approximately ten perpetrators entered the store, held up the staff and customers and robbed them of cash and cell phones. They fled the scene in three vehicles.

• Sunday, May 1 at 19:48 – Death on Duiker Street, Greenhills: Mapogo was contacted to assist with an ambulance as the owner’s father had passed away. Our heartfelt condolences to the family during this heart-breaking time.
