Evotel adds air beneath the Wings of Inspiration charity

Fibre Network Operator (FNO), Evotel once again responded to the call to help Wings of Inspiration home with groceries to the value of R10 200. But that's not all ...

As part of Evotel’s Installing Hope Challenge, the company identified the non-profit Wings of Inspiration charity organisation in Wentworth Park in Krugersdorp, which has care centres in Randfontein and Roodepoort, to support as one of the numerous charities the company will be contributing to.

The Wings of Inspiration charity is dedicated to helping others and being of service to communities and individuals in need. Their initial dream and idea started during a challenging life experience, and they wanted to open a women’s shelter for destitute and widowed women and children. Through the Wings of Inspiration Sober Home they since have extended their reach to assist people suffering from addiction.

Evotel donated two laptops with headphones and a free fibre internet connection to the charity to assist them with the administration of the charity. The people who take shelter there can use these resources to start developing skills and look for jobs online to get back on their feet and start building a future for themselves and their children after the ordeals they have been through.

We are very appreciative for the assistance that Evotel is affording us through their generous donations. They have been very good to us. Their donations and support will go a long way towards our various causes. We have received help from people over the years, but no company has ever made such a huge effort to help us,” said Director at Wings of Inspiration Shane Peyper.

“We will also be donating a cash amount of R10 000 – apart from the laptops, headphones and free fibre connection – to the centre to acquire building material for repairs and construction to extend the premises and facilities,” added Bradley Bekker, Head of Brand at Evotel.

Shane used the example of one of the women at the Women and Children facility who teaches maths, but because of Covid-19, she struggled to see her students.

“Now with a laptop and internet she will be able to teach her students online and earn an income to look after her two- and four-year-old children,” Shane added.

The Wings of Inspiration Care Centre helps under-privileged children, orphans and families with clothes, furniture, household goods, bedding, kitchenware, baby stuff, toys, food or anything that can benefit them, and rely solely on donations.

“Like Wings of Inspiration, Evotel believes in contributing to the good of society, aiming to assist communities wherever and in whatever small way possible. Evotel decided to contribute to the Wings of Inspiration Care Centre to help carry on the amazing work of the charity because it is part of our values to help out where we can. We were inspired by the family who had lived through hard times, so it was something we really wanted to get involved with,” explained Bradley.

The Wings of Inspiration Sober Home is a key part of the institution. It is currently housing 12 recovering addicts. “There are many success stories from those whom the sober home living and support structure has helped, and we were able to assist these individuals to integrate as productive contributing members of society and reunite them with their families,” noted Shane.

With all the support and donations the institution receives from companies like Evotel, they will be able to make a change in the lives of the centre’s members to become self-sufficient and hopefully also become involved in many of the Wings projects as community service volunteers.

Apart from the main Wings of Inspiration centre, the organisation has facilitated several mini projects since inception. These include Covid-19 emergency food response, school stationery, uniform drives, soup kitchen and food donation initiatives for orphanages, playschools, communities and the homeless, as well as community outreach support projects to assist single mothers and fathers.

This is what the Evotel Installing Hope Challenge aims to achieve – to better the lives of those in need through charitable events and projects.

The Installing Hope Challenge is open to all companies and those who wish to participate can challenge any company to support some charity and showcase their charitable initiative by using the #InstallingHopeChallenge hashtag.

Evotel continues to challenge companies and urges those who accept to nominate other companies to take part, using the same hashtag, #InstallingHopeChallenge, to collectively make a change in the lives of disadvantaged communities and the needy, like the Wings of Inspiration Centre, bringing hope and uplifting spirits.

Alone, Evotel can only make a small impact, but together we can make a greater difference in the lives of more people that are struggling in South Africa. Even the smallest bit of assistance can make a tremendous difference in the life of a person who really needs it, like those being helped by Wings of Inspiration,” Bradley concluded.
