Botha brothers proud of their ‘toys’

The Botha brothers are two of the luckiest petrolheads for owning one of only 20 Renault Megane RS in South Africa.

The Botha brothers couldn’t be happier.

Juan Botha, 20, and Ruan Botha, 19, are said to be two of the luckiest petrolheads as each one of them has their own set of keys to their own Renault Megane RS of which only 20 were released to the South African market – all in the same colour.

The siblings told the Herald that both their 2015 models are also two of only 200 manufactured in the world.

“Mine is number 7 and my brother’s is number 13. Everything is exactly the same, only the numbers are different,” Ruan said.

The brothers who both love cars said they wanted a symbol of their common interest, and they get to have fun in their toys on the weekend.

My brother and I are quite close so I guess this is a way of showing how similar we are in many ways,” Juan said.

The brothers who are also part of the local community of petrolheads in Randfontein said they enjoy having something unique, not mention distinctive.

Asked why the chose the specific model, Ruan said, “It is such a looker and a beast on the road. We wanted something that complemented our youth, and something that’s fun, that’s why went for it.”

Asked what happened when one grabbed the other one’s keys by mistake, they said their rule is not to drive away without making sure that they were indeed behind the wheel of their own car, although the slight differences in the mags and the registration ensure they can tell them apart.

“Also one car is louder that the other,” Ruan said.
