Randfontein Police conducted a campaign in Toekomsrus on Friday March 25 to create awareness about certain types of crime people in the area might fall victim to.

According to the police, the purpose of the campaign was to warn the residents about housebreaking, house robberies, domestic violence, common robberies, motor vehicle theft, and alcohol and substance abuse.
Sergeant Carmen Henricks, Randfontein Police spokesperson said members of the community were pleased to engage with the police, and requested them to maintain good visibility in the area, hoping that crime in their neighbourhood would subside.
The police members handed out 100 pamphlets with useful information to tip off the police, and police contact details to residents who interacted with the men and women in blue.
We appealed to the community members to be our eyes and ears on the ground; to report crime or anything that may be suspicious to them; to join the Community Policing Forum (CPF); and start their own neighbourhood watch in an effort to fight crime with the police.
“We also requested that they should come forward with information and to contact Randfontein Police on 011 414 4992 and the Crime Stop line on 08600 10111. They may also use our SMS line on 32211 or provide information via the My SAPS app and remain anonymous,” Hendricks said.
