SASSA warns old age grant beneficiaries of scammers

SASSA issues warning after many beneficiaries complained about deductions to their grants they had not authorised.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) continues to warn old age grant beneficiaries about scammers pretending to be working for SASSA.

SASSA Mpumalanga spokesperson Senzeni Ngubeni said SASSA had received a lot of complaints from elderly people at pay points about deductions to their grants that they had not authorised.

These scammers are in a sheep skin while they have wolves’ tendencies as they indirectly make beneficiaries join their policies without their knowledge. Since the deadly pandemic hit the country in 2020 SASSA stopped all home visits.

“The public is requested to contact the nearest police station or SASSA office if they see any suspicious activities done in the name of SASSA.”
