Housebreaking still on the rise in Randfontein – Mapogo crime report

Mapogo released its latest crime report which included several incidents, most for housebreaking and theft in Helikon Park and Randpoort.

It was a relatively quiet week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security’s client base in Randfontein.

Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse said only three incidents were reported for the period between Monday, March 7 and Sunday, March 13.

A breakdown of the incidents:

• Tuesday, March 8 at 15:38 – Theft and arrest, North Way road, Greenhills. Intruders got into a property and stole a child’s BMX bicycle from the premises. A passer-by noticed this and alerted Mapogo response officers who arrested the thief, retrieved the stolen bicycle and handed it back to the owner. The suspect was handed over to Randfontein Police for further investigation.

• Friday, March 11 at 13:24 – Housebreaking and theft, Honeybird Street, Helikon Park. During load-shedding intruders gained entry onto the premises by climbing over the front wall, broke a window and stole clothing, jewellery and an Xbox game console from the house. They then fled the scene.

• Sunday, March 13 March at 18:14 – Housebreaking, Donna van der Merwe Street, Randpoort. It was found that a window had been broken at the back of the premises, but it could not be established if any items had been stolen.
