It was a relatively busy week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security’s client base in Randfontein.
Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse said five incidents were reported for the period between Monday, February 28 and Sunday, March 6.
A breakdown of the incidents:
• Monday, February 28 at 07:14 – Housebreaking and theft on Van Riebeeck Road, Homelake: Intruders gained entry through the main gate, and forced open the office door and safety gate. Computer equipment and cash were stolen from the premises.
• Monday, February 28 at 23:07 – Domestic violence incident on Homestead Avenue, Greenhills: A panic alarm was received from the premises and it was found that a man and a woman were involved in a physical fight outside the premises. The police were contacted as the man was very aggressive towards security personnel as he was under the influence of alcohol. He drove off before the police arrived.
• Tuesday, March 1 at 04:07 – Housebreaking and theft on Honeybird Avenue, Helikonpark: A panic alarm was received from the premises and on arrival contact was made with the owner who confirmed that a break-in took place. On further investigation it was found that intruders had forced open the TV room window and broken the burglar bars. After stealing a flat-screen television the burglars fled the scene.
• Tuesday, March 1 at 07:38 – Housebreaking and theft on Palm Avenue, Greenhills: On arrival at the premises contact was made with the owner who confirmed that intruders had lifted the gate during the evening, and broke a window and burglar bars of the garage to gain entry. The garage door was opened from the inside, and the burglars stole a motorcycle and fled the scene.
• Tuesday, March 1 at 04:52 – Theft on Kingfisher Avenue, Helikon Park: On arrival at the premises contact was made with the owner who confirmed that unknown intruders had broken the electric fence and climbed over the perimeter wall. An unknown amount of clothing was stolen from the premises before the thugs fled the scene.
