Drugs worth 750K found in Westonaria home: Hawks arrest one

A 43-year-old suspect was arrested in Westonaria for possession of drugs valued at R 750 000.

A 43-year-old suspect was remanded in custody by the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday February 22 for possession of drugs valued at R750 000.

According to Gauteng Hawks spokesperson Captain Ndivhuwo Mulamu the suspect was arrested on Sunday, February 20 after police had kept surveillance on his home in Westonaria, following intelligence they received regarding suspicious illegal drug dealings in Westonaria.

He has also been charged with contravention of the Drugs and Drug Trafficking Act and will remain in custody pending investigations,” Mulamu added.

Mulamu said the suspect was found with 40g of suspected Cat drugs, and further investigation revealed that 350g of suspected crystal meth as well as 175g of Cat were found inside plastic bags ready for distribution.

“The Court remanded the suspect in custody pending investigations, and the case was postponed to Friday, 25 February for a formal bail application,” Malumu added.
