Covid-19 active cases, vaccination numbers to date on West Rand

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng as of February 21 sits at 1 187 538 with 1 159 349 recoveries and 20 546 deaths.

A total number of 1 318 people are currently hospitalised in the public (681) and private (637) facilities.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the West Rand is at 64 543 with 62 418 recoveries and 1 748 deaths. This translates to a total of 377 active cases.

A total of 8 712 948 Covid-19 vaccinations have been administered in the Gauteng Province as of February 21. The total number of individuals fully vaccinated is 4 498 460.

In the West Rand, which comprises Mogale City, Rand West City, and Merafong City, 603 542 vaccinations have been administered, with 311 810 individuals fully vaccinated.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg, 3 724 101 vaccines have been administered with 1 853 653 individuals fully vaccinated.

All persons older than 12 years old are encouraged to visit their nearest vaccination site to receive the jab. It is thought that vaccinating 70% or more of the adult population can minimise the impact of the fourth wave. The Department of Health (DoH) further reminds the public that those who received a two-dose vaccine need to return for their second dose at 42 days. All Gauteng sites, both private and public, accept walk-ins whether people are registered on the EVDS or not.
