The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng as of February 12 sits at 1 180 062 with 1 151 recoveries and 20 520 deaths.

A total number of 1 736 people are currently hospitalised in the public (825) and private (911) facilities.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the West Rand is at 64 176 with 61 928 recoveries and 1 747 deaths. This translates to a total of 501 active cases.

A total of 8 561 837 Covid-19 vaccinations have been administered in the Gauteng Province as of February 12. The total number of individuals fully vaccinated is 4 436 122.

In the West Rand, which comprises Mogale City, Rand West City, and Merafong City, 590 908 vaccinations have been administered, with 307 287 individuals fully vaccinated.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg, 3 669 026 vaccines have been administered with 1 829 717 individuals fully vaccinated.

All persons older than 12 years old are encouraged to visit their nearest vaccination site to receive the jab. It is thought that vaccinating 70% or more of the adult population can minimise the impact of the fourth wave. The Department of Health (DoH) further reminds the public that those who received a two-dose vaccine need to return for their second dose at 42 days. All Gauteng sites, both private and public, accept walk-ins whether people are registered on the EVDS or not.
