Covid-19 active cases, vaccination numbers to date on West Rand

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng as of February 9 sits at 1 177 022 with 1 147 634 recoveries and 20 505 deaths.

A total number of 1 833 people are currently hospitalised in the public (874) and private (959) facilities.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the West Rand is at 64 000 with 61 669 recoveries and 1 747 deaths. This translates to a total of 584 active cases.

A total of 8 512 284 Covid-19 vaccinations have been administered in the Gauteng Province as of February 9. The total number of individuals fully vaccinated is 4 415 903.

In the West Rand, which comprises Mogale City, Rand West City, and Merafong City, 587 096 vaccinations have been administered, with 305 956 individuals fully vaccinated.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg, 3 650 081 vaccines have been administered with 1 821 891 individuals fully vaccinated.

All persons older than 12 years old are encouraged to visit their nearest vaccination site to receive the jab. It is thought that vaccinating 70% or more of the adult population can minimise the impact of the fourth wave. The Department of Health (DoH) further reminds the public that those who received a two-dose vaccine need to return for their second dose at 42 days.

All Gauteng sites, both private and public, accept walk-ins whether people are registered on the EVDS or not.
