The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng as of February 7 sits at 1 174 790 with 1 146 167 recoveries and 20 487 deaths.

A total number of 1 892 people are currently hospitalised in the public (890) and private (1 002) facilities.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the West Rand is at 63 874 with 61 563 recoveries and 1 746 deaths. This translates to a total of 565 active cases.

A total of 8 468 845 Covid-19 vaccinations have been administered in the Gauteng Province as of February 7. The total number of individuals fully vaccinated is 4 398 104.

In the West Rand, which comprises Mogale City, Rand West City, and Merafong City, 583 657 vaccinations have been administered, with 304 822 individuals fully vaccinated.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg, 3 633 663 vaccines have been administered with 1 814 662 individuals fully vaccinated.

All persons older than 12 years old are encouraged to visit their nearest vaccination site to receive the jab. It is thought that vaccinating 70% or more of the adult population can minimise the impact of the fourth wave. The Department of Health (DoH) further reminds the public that those who received a two-dose vaccine need to return for their second dose at 42 days. All Gauteng sites, both private and public, accept walk-ins whether people are registered on the EVDS or not.
