The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng as of February 5 sits at 1 173 688 with 1 143 955 recoveries and 20 484 deaths.

A total number of 1 907 people are currently hospitalised in the public (897) and private (1 010) facilities.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the West Rand is at 63 798 with 61 398 recoveries and 1 746 deaths. This translates to a total of 654 active cases.

A total of 8 447 560 Covid-19 vaccinations have been administered in the Gauteng Province as of February 5. The total number of individuals fully vaccinated is 4 389 700.

In the West Rand, which comprises Mogale City, Rand West City, and Merafong City, 582 014 vaccinations have been administered, with 304 199 individuals fully vaccinated.

All persons older than 12 years old are encouraged to visit their nearest vaccination site to receive the jab. It is thought that vaccinating 70% or more of the adult population can minimise the impact of the fourth wave. The Department of Health (DoH) further reminds the public that those who received a two-dose vaccine need to return for their second dose at 42 days.

All Gauteng sites, both private and public, accept walk-ins whether people are registered on the EVDS or not.
