Cops, traffic police visit toddlers about safety

Safety when walking to and from school, going to other places in public, and how intersections work were discussed between police, traffic police and toddlers in Bekkersdal.

Bekkersdal Police along with the Rand West City Traffic Department visited the Tsholofelo Educare Centre in Bekkersdal on Tuesday, February 1 to give Grade Rs safety lessons.

Bekkersdal Police spokesperson Sergeant Linkie Lefakane said law-enforcement officers warned learners to keep safety in mind when walking to and from school, as well as going to other places where they are vulnerable.

“They were further encouraged to know their parents’ name and surname, homes’ physical addresses, and contact numbers to avoid getting lost. The programme was concluded by explaining to kids how intersections work and ‘know-my-body’ songs,” Sergeant Lefakane added.
