The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng as of January 29 sits at 1 166 950 with 1 137 980 recoveries and 20 426 deaths.

A total number of 2 000 people are currently hospitalised in the public (941) and private (1 059) facilities.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the West Rand is at 63 348 with 61 027 recoveries and 1 743 deaths. This translates to a total of 578 active cases.

A total of 8 328 312 Covid-19 vaccinations have been administered in the Gauteng Province as of January 29. The total number of individuals fully vaccinated is 4 331 075.

In the West Rand, which comprises Mogale City, Rand West City, and Merafong City, 573 155 vaccinations have been administered, with 299 789 individuals fully vaccinated.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg, 3 579 307 vaccines have been administered with 1 788 075 individuals fully vaccinated.

All persons older than 12 years old are encouraged to visit their nearest vaccination site to receive the jab. It is thought that vaccinating 70% or more of the adult population can minimise the impact of the fourth wave. The Department of Health (DoH) further reminds the public that those who received a two-dose vaccine need to return for their second dose at 42 days. All Gauteng sites, both private and public, accept walk-ins whether people are registered on the EVDS or not.
