Youngster attributes success to others’ help and support

Grateful to have passed, the youngster thanked her family, friends and teachers for their help and support in difficult times.

Toekomsrus — Rushaan Olivier, 18, of Randfontein Secondary School (RSS) is one of the many recently to have completed her final school year in what could be described as a pressurised 2021 environment due to the pandemic.

Another challenge was a traumatic experience during her exams. Grateful to have passed, the youngster thanked her family, friends and teachers for their help and support.

“Because of them I managed to succeed,” she told the Herald.

Rushaan also received a bursary and is packing her bags to study towards a degree in education at the University of the Free State.

Although she only started at RSS in Grade 10, her final days of school had been pleasant.

“I will have fond memories of my school days. I’m definitely going to miss being the president of RSS and will forever cherish my friends and other people who reminded me there’s so much a young person can live for. I’m glad that in these last three years I’ve enjoyed an environment that was so nurturing.”

Speaking about her future, Rushaan said whether one intends to further one’s studies or go straight into a job, passing Grade 12 is always a good starting point for anyone.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed to this achievement. I’m glad that in the end I could make you proud,” Rushaan added.
