Dry Ice is derived from frozen carbon dioxide and is retained at a surface temperature of just below -80 degrees Celsius. The unique quality of dry ice is due to its ability to sublimate, which means that when it breaks down it converts directly to carbon dioxide gas instead of a liquid.

If the freeze brand is applied for a long enough period of time to the hide, the hair can also be completely removed, if so desired, while still having the effect of a more humane branding technique.

As such, freeze branding has become the method of choice for many farmers around the world, particularly registered stud breeders and commercial producers in the United States.

It is an extremely efficient practice as the time specified for freeze-branding is 45 seconds per head of cattle.

Dry ice can be used to clean or unblock a borehole without the use of toxic chemicals. As such, this powerful method is an environmentally friendly and sustainable option that prevents the introduction of harmful toxins into the surrounding land or the water supply.

With dry ice’s natural ability to sublimate into a gas, it is sunk to the bottom of the borehole where it converts to gas.

The gas at the bottom of the borehole creates pressurised carbonated water which continuously increases in pressure, pushing the blockages out of the borehole and opening it up quickly and naturally.

The resultant effect is a clean borehole which has no artificial contaminants and has been completely opened effectively using gas and subsequently offers pressurised water from below.
