The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng as of January 15 sits at 1 154 906 with 1 123 068 recoveries and 20 349 deaths.

A total number of 2 660 people are currently hospitalised in the public (1 209) and private (1 451) facilities.

A total of 8 031 816 Covid-19 vaccinations have been administered in the Gauteng Province as of January 14. The total number of individuals fully vaccinated is 4 161 945.

In the West Rand, which comprises Mogale City, Rand West City, and Merafong City, 551 398 vaccinations have been administered, with 266 492 individuals fully vaccinated.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the West Rand is 62 729 with 60 485 recoveries and 1 737 deaths, this translates to 507 active cases.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg, 3 463 928 vaccines have been administered with 1 723 223 individuals fully vaccinated.

All persons older than 12 years old are encouraged to visit their nearest vaccination site to receive the jab. It is thought that vaccinating 70% or more of the adult population can minimise the impact of the fourth wave. The Department of Health (DoH) further reminds the public that those who received a two-dose vaccine need to return for their second dose at 42 days.

All Gauteng sites, both private and public, accept walk-ins whether people are registered on the EVDS or not.
