It was a relatively busy first week of the new year for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security with numerous serious incidents being reported in Randfontein.

Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse said four incidents were reported for their client base for the period between Monday, January 3 and Sunday, January 9.

A breakdown of the crime incidents:

• Monday, January 3 at 08:41 – Housebreaking and theft on 1st Street, Aureus: Intruders gained entry to the property by climbing over the roof, stole tools from the premises, and fled the scene.

• Monday, January 3 at 10:45 – Housebreaking and theft on Rhino Street, Greenhills: Intruders forced open the front door, stole clothes and jewellery from the house, and fled the scene.

• Wednesday, January 5 at 13:08 – Housebreaking and theft on Shetland Street, Greenhills: Thugs lifted the main gate from its rail, forced open the door, stole electrical appliances, and fled the scene.

• Thursday, January 6 at 02:51 – Trespassing and arrest on Village Street, Randfontein: Mapogo officers responded to an alarm signal received from a premises on Village Street, and on arrival the premises was inspected. An intruder was found hiding in an outbuilding, and was arrested and handed over to the police for further investigation.
