A 26-year-old man was stabbed and killed by his 23-year-old girlfriend in Zuurbekom just days before Christmas.

According to the Bekkersdal Police spokesperson Sergeant Linkie Lefakane, the female suspect had since been arrested and charged with murder. She already appeared in the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court but the outcome is not known at this stage.
It has been alleged that the couple were fighting inside their rented room on Wednesday December 15. They then left but at approximately 21:00 the man was found dead in a pool of his own blood in the street,” said Sergeant Lefakane.
Bekkersdal Police station commander Colonel Phumelele Matamela condemned the incident and said as much as women could become victims of gender-based violence, so could men.
She urged men also to come forward and report any form of domestic abuse.
