LATEST: 1 264 active Covid-19 infections with total fully vaccinated at 264 432 on the West Rand

Covid-19 active cases, vaccination numbers to date on West Rand.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng as at December 6 sits at 996 911 with 919 978 recoveries and 19 724 deaths.

A total number of 1 670 people are currently hospitalised in the public (878) and private (792) facilities.

A total of 7 228 776 Covid-19 vaccinations have been administered in the Gauteng Province as of December 6. The total number of individuals fully vaccinated is at 3 858 867.

In the West Rand, which comprises Mogale City, Rand West City and Merafong City, 489 535 vaccinations have been administered, with 264 432 individuals fully vaccinated.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg, 3 128 179 vaccines have been administered with 1 606 239 individuals fully vaccinated.

All persons older than 12 years old are encouraged to visit their nearest vaccination site to receive the jab. It is thought that vaccinating 70% or more of the adult population can minimise the impact of the fourth wave. The Department of Health (DoH) further reminds the public that those who received a two-dose vaccine need to return for their second dose at 42 days.

All Gauteng sites, both private and public, accept walk-ins whether people are registered on the EVDS or not.
