Woman found burnt, killed and dumped on gravel road

Randfontein Police have launched an investigation after a community member found the burnt body of an unknown woman on a gravel road.

The burnt body of an unknown woman was found dumped on a gravel road in Witfontein on Wednesday evening, November 24.

According to Randfontein Police, the body was discovered by a community member just after 18:00 after seeing a suspicious vehicle with four unknown occupants parked in an open space.

When the occupants realised that someone was watching them, they quickly jumped into their vehicle and sped off,” said Randfontein Police spokesperson Sergeant Carmen Hendricks.

She explained further that the community member then became aware of a strange odour coming from the direction where he’d seen the four suspicious people, and further discovered the burnt body of a woman that had been dumped there. The community member immediately contacted the police.

Randfontein Police station commander Brigadier Jacob Mashole Manamela expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased, and strongly condemned the brutal killing.

Brigadier Manamela also appealed to the public to come forward with any information pertaining to the case; he further advised people to speak out if they’re subjected to any kind of abuse.

16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence is an annual international campaign and there is no excuse for abusing women, children and our elderly,” Manamela said.

Randfontein Police are urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist the investigating officer. Please contact Randfontein Police on 071 675 7094 or 011 414 4992; alternatively use the My SAPS app or contact the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 to report crime anonymously.
