Grade 11 learner an entrepreneur in the making

A Grade 11 learner at Phahama Secondary School has his sights set on becoming an entrepreneur in the textile industry. He already has a brand!

Meet Paseka Ngcoza, an 18-year-old Grade 11 learner at Phahama Secondary School who has his sights set on becoming an entrepreneur in the textile industry.

Although he is yet to finish school, the youngster is already working on his household brand, Bumpthecheeseup.

Paseka who is passionate about making clothes, said after seeing headlines that unemployment is rife among many youngsters, he didn’t want to be the next in line without a job – in fact, he said he wanted to help create employment.

“I just don’t want to be like those people who are proud of excelling at school but are struggling to find a job. I thought, why can’t I be the one creating jobs in the future?” Paseka said.

He said after completing his Grade 12, he will be enhancing his skills at varsity come the year 2023.

“I want my peers to see that we, the young people, should be responsible for the future and therefore should take the lead. We shouldn’t always rely on parents,” he added.

Paseka said late last year he started designing his logo, and looked for clothing shops where he could do embroidery and printing.

“I am doing this because no matter what, one can do so much if one just thinks outside the box. We don’t always have to wait for big corporations to give us employment; especially considering what Covid-19 has done. In believe that as young people, we have to think, rethink and evaluate ourselves for the future,” Paseka said.
