Housebreaking and theft, attempted housebreaking dominate Mapogo crime report

Housebreaking and theft remain a concern for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security.

It was another busy week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security with seven crime incidents being reported in Randfontein for the period from Monday, October 25 to Sunday, October 31.

Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse gave a breakdown of the crime incidents:

• Monday, October 25 October at 05:52 – Housebreaking and theft on Raven Street, Greenhills: Intruders entered the property by climbing over the front wall, gained entry into the garage through the roof, stole tools and fled the scene.

• Monday, October 25 at 14:13 – Housebreaking and theft on Condor Avenue, Helikon Park: Thugs drove into the premises, forced open the front security gate, stole TVs from the house and fled the scene.

• Tuesday, October 26 at 14:31 – Theft on Raven Street, Greenhills: Whilst the owner was at home thieves entered the premises, stole electric tools and fled the scene.

• Wednesday, October 27 at 13:15 – Housebreaking and theft on Bokmakierie Street, Helikon Park: Intruders gained entry onto the premises by lifting the gate from the rail, then they forced open the security gate, stole a TV from the house and fled the scene.

• Wednesday, October 27 at 14:02 – Housebreaking and theft on Nightingale Street, Greenhills: Intruders lifted the gate from the rail, entered the house by forcing open the safety gate, and stole household goods from the house whilst the owner’s sister was inside the house.

• Thursday, October 30 at 14:29 – Attempted housebreaking on Steenbok Street, Greenhills: Two men lifted the main gate from its rail and while attempting to force open the security gate the owner noticed them and raised the alarm. The thugs fled the scene.

• Sunday, October 31 at 06:50 – Armed robbery on Main Reef Road, Randfontein CBD (non-client): The owner of the fast-food store informed Mapogo officers that they had an armed robbery during the evening of 30 October 2021 and that the robbers took approximately R14 000 in cash and fled the scene.
