Get to know independent candidate councillor Emmanuel Joseph Batsile Tshoose

The Herald introduces Emmanuel Joseph Batsile Tshoose, an independent candidate councillor in this year’s upcoming local government elections.

Emmanuel Joseph Batsile Tshoose, 55, is an independent candidate councillor for Ward 24 in Westonaria.

1. Why should the community vote for you?

The community should vote for me as I’m not going there for money. I’ve got my own businesses. I want to be a link between the community and the municipality where I will be doing the talking for my community, and try to assist my community in getting employment under the municipality.

I will ensure that money allocated to the community for any development is used accordingly; not in a corrupt manner. One of the developments that I’m busy with is a security training centre where I train and register community members willing to register with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA).

2. What are you going to do differently?

I will bring projects to the community, and make sure that lights are working. I will do away with mushrooming dumping sites, make sure that the area is free of crime, and that there’s more police visibility. I will make sure that mines surrounding the town employ the locals, and matric learners are prioritised when it comes to bursaries.

3. Outside of your council duties, how are involved in the community?

Besides my security training centre where I train and register community with PSIRA, I’m also involved in football and netball as I do annual tournaments during Easter and the festive season. I’ve also been involved in the Community Policing Forum.
