Woman killed when scooter crashes into forklift

A forklift had been unloading building material from a truck when a woman on a scooter collided into it. She passed away.

A woman in her 30s was killed when her scooter collided with a forklift on Diamond Street, Carletonville on the far West Rand on Thursday morning, October 21.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said ER24 and the Provincial Services arrived at 11:10 to find a woman lying in the middle of the road approximately five metres from her scooter.

“Medics assessed the woman and found that she had already succumbed to her numerous injuries. Nothing more could be done by paramedics, and she was declared dead. The driver of the forklift, fortunately, escaped injury. It is understood that the forklift had been unloading building material from a truck when the collision occurred.”
