From being tested to getting vaccinated: This weeks plan in Rand West City

The Gauteng Health Department will continue providing pop-up sites for health screening until October 23.

The West Rand District Health Department is once again inviting the community to get free Covid-19 tests done at their sites this week.

Everyone aged 18 and older can get vaccinated on Saturdays as well.

The department’s communications officer, Nomagugu Hloma said in addition to the coronavirus tests, HIV, TB and blood pressure tests will be done for free this week from Sunday, October 17 to Saturday, October 23.

The sites are operational from 09:00 to 15:00.

Planned sites for screening and testing:

• Greenhills Stadium (Ward 6)

• Bekkersdal Uptown Tankeng (Ward 33)

• Bekkersdal Tambo Section (Ward 33)

• Bekkersdal Silver City (Ward 33)

• Bekkersdal Spook Town (Ward 33)

• Westonaria Post Office (Ward 26)

• Goldfields (Ward 26)

• Westonaria Taxi Rank (Ward 26)

• Mohlakeng Usave (Ward 13)

• Bundu Inn (Ward 13)

• Mohlakeng Number 10 (Ward 14)

• Mohlakeng Ext 4 (Ward 15)

• Randgate Bartlett (Ward 9)

• Tambotie Mall (Ward 6)

Vaccinations will be done at the following sites:

• Sunday, October 17 at Greenhills Stadium and Bundu Inn (Mohlakeng Clinic)
• Monday, October 18 at Greenhills Stadium and Mohlakeng Number 10 (Yarona Clinic)
• Tuesday, October 19 at Greenhills Stadium and Mohlakeng Ext 4 (Yarona Clinic)
• Wednesday, October 20 at Greenhills Stadium, Bekkersdal OR Tambo (Bekkersdal West Clinic) and Bartlett (Randgate Clinic)
• Thursday, October 21 at Greenhills Stadium, Bartlett (Randgate Clinic)
• Friday, October 22 at Greenhills Stadium, Goldfields (Westonaria Banquet) Spook Town taxi rank and Westonaria taxi rank (Bekkersdal East Clinic)
• Saturday, October 23 at Greenhills Stadium, Bekkersdal OR Tambo, Mohlakeng Usave, Tambotie Mall and Westonaria Post Office

Hloma said on the other days residents can get tested at their local clinics and healthcare facilities. They are urging people who are 18 and older to get vaccinated on Saturdays. Walk-ins are accepted across Gauteng and all you need to get your jab is your ID or other specified proof of identity.
