Covid-19 vaccines administered in the West Rand now at 345 512

A total of 5 368 754 Covid-19 vaccinations have been administered in the Gauteng Province as at October 16. The total number of individuals vaccinated are at 3 652 216 with 2 629 038 individuals being fully vaccinated.

In the West Rand, which comprises of Mogale City, Rand West City and Merafong City, 345 512 vaccinations have been administered, with 166 029 individuals fully vaccinated. According to the Gauteng Provincial Government, the population of the West Rand now stands at 686 355.

In the neighbouring City of Johannesburg, 2 365 554 vaccines have been administered with 1 117 989 individuals fully vaccinated. The population of Johannesburg stands at 4 360 765.

Vaccinations per age group in Gauteng:

• 18 to 34 years: Out of a population of 5 196 154, 485 141 individuals have been fully vaccinated
• 35 to 49 years: Out of a population of 13 441 983, 980 166 individuals have been fully vaccinated
• 50 to 59 years: Out of a population of 1 330 500, 536 716 individuals have been fully vaccinated
• 60+ years: Out of a population of 1 342 689, 626 712 individuals have been fully vaccinated
