Waterpan woman’s Eskom saga continues … since April

Janine Bosch said illegal connections outside her home have caused power interruptions to her home and damaged her appliances.

While the Herald reported recently on the power outage in Venterspos and how residents were left in the dark for more than a month – power was restored on September 16 – a Waterpan resident still has no power since April this year.

For Janine Bosch, who said illegal connections outside her home have caused power interruptions to her home and even damaged most of her appliances, the problem is far from being solved.

The 55-year-old Bosch said she had tried to reach Eskom on a number of occasions via telephone, email and even visited the centre in Randfontein, but to no avail.

“None of these services worked,” she added.

The Herald has also tried to reach out to officials regarding Bosch’s matter, but was only told that the case would be investigated.

“People have been making illegal connections from the pole outside my house, causing damage to the equipment and appliances in my house. I have reported this to Eskom, but have had no joy in getting any help,” Bosch complained.

She said in the last two years, she hasn’t had consistent power supply, and had to install a solar system so that she could carry on with her work, simply because her pleas were falling on deaf ears.

“I am still receiving bills for power I am not using and that has not been connected to my house since April 2021, but my neighbours who are illegally connected to my power supply are enjoying full use of power.

“This has become a joke and I demand that my power supply to them be disconnected immediately and that I be refunded as soon as possible,” Bosch demanded.
