[WATCH] Toekies’ new dancing sensation

'I can't wait to represent my country and become a professional dancer' – new dancing sensation from Toekomsrus.

Xavier van Schalkwyk is the latest youngster from Toekomsrus to step it up and make waves. He hopes to perform internationally soon.

The 20-year-old who is a member of the Mario Gomes Hip Hop Dance Academy outdid himself at the Dance Star dance competition in Centurion on Saturday September 25.

Having been one of the standout dancers, he now stands a chance to go to Croatia to represent the South African dance fraternity and his dance studio.

Xavier said he discovered his unique talent at the age of nine.

“My inspiration came from dance movies and a dance group in my community called Brekstin. They showed some original and timeless dance moves,” an excited Xavier said.

Xavier, who can express himself in various styles and genres including hip hop, Litefeet and Salsa said he has come up with his own original moves to entertain his audience.

“I want to perfect it and I take it quite seriously. I can’t wait to represent my county and become a professional dancer,” Xavier added.
