Prosecutor Ndobe: I want a better society, that’s all

Tinyiko Ndobe may be serious during court proceedings but he only wants the best for society.

You might have seen a serious Tinyiko Ndobe in court as a prosecutor, but this is a man of God and he means no one no harm. Instead, his mission is to protect and serve innocent victims and bring justice.

In an exclusive interview with the Herald, Ndone, 39, said he’s trying his best to empower and motivate those who feel downtrodden in life.

Ndobe, who also loves the community, has recently released his debut book titled Light in the Storm. It is a collection of his poems through which he wants to give people hope and help them cope with the effects of Covid-19 – especially considering how the pandemic affected the economy resulting in many losing their sources of income.

“The book seeks to give people hope that it all shall pass; as difficult as it may be,” Ndobe added.

He said he was also involved in other community-building projects, particularly for youth development in various areas such as sports, arts, culture and recreation. He wanted people to emulate three aspects of his life namely honesty, determination and hard work.

“I want to inspire and motivate especially the youth that nothing is impossible. You must believe, pray and work hard to reach your goals,” he said.

Speaking about his day job as a prosecutor he said it is humbling, “… because you get to help victims of crime on a daily basis. More importantly, it is more than just a job, it’s a calling. People think I’m too quiet, kind and polite to be a prosecutor until they see me in action. When it’s time to fight for the victim, I don’t compromise,” Ndobe emphasised.

While he said he was still new in his profession, there were many changes he wanted to bring about in his community using his legal platform because he believes prosecutors play bigger roles than just proving who’s guilty and who’s not. He said he’s proud to be part of a fraternity that strives for a safer and protective world.

“In the end, I want to be remembered as someone who used all my talents, like preaching the gospel, writing books and prosecuting for the betterment of society, that’s all,” Ndobe said.
