Robberies, theft remain a headache as Mapogo reveals another six incidents

Robberies and theft stood out the most in Mapogo's latest crime report.

It was yet another busy week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security with numerous incidents being reported in Randfontein.

Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse said six incidents were reported for their client base for the period between Sunday, September 12 and Sunday, September 19.

A breakdown of the crime incidents:

• Sunday, September 12 at 15:29 – Theft, Volvo Street, Aureus. An intruder climbed over an electric fence and stole an unknown amount of scrap metal from the premises.

• Wednesday, September 15 at 12:21 – Housebreaking and theft, Fir Crescent, Greenhills. Thugs driving a white VW Polo stopped in front of the premises, lifted the gate from its rails and entered the property where they forced open a door and stole household items before fleeing the scene.

• Wednesday, September 15 at 13:14 – House robbery, Tarentaal Street, Helikon Park. Intruders gained entry onto the property by lifting the front gate off its rails and forced the owner, who was at home, into the house where they stole household items and fled the scene.

• Saturday, September 18 at 05:22 – Theft, Mercedes Street, Aureus. Mapogo was alerted by the onsite security guard that thieves were stealing scrap metal from the premises. On their arrival the thugs fled the scene to evade arrest, and all the stolen metal was recovered.

• Sunday, September 19 at 00:25 – Fire, Foden Street, Aureus. Mapogo was responding to an alarm activation when they noticed a large fire on the site, the fire brigade was summoned to extinguish the fire.

• Sunday, September 19 at 17:44 – Housebreaking and Theft, Bettie Street, Elandsvlei. Suspects gained entry onto the property and broke into the outside storeroom where they stole cables and breakers. No alarm detection installed within the area where the suspects broke in.
