Man shot and killed for his bakkie

The victim was shot during the struggle for the key – police.

A 32-year-old man was shot and killed on Dlomo Street, Bekkersdal on Tuesday September 14.

According to the police, the incident happened at approximately 19:15 when two thugs shot the victim and stole his Isuzu bakkie with registration JF 30 DD GP.

Reportedly the victim and his younger brother were walking towards the bakkie that was parked outside their yard when two armed men appeared out of nowhere. One of them tried to grab the key from the ignition,” Bekkersdal Police spokesperson Sergeant Linkie Lefakane said.

The victim was shot during the struggle for the key, and he died instantly from the multiple gunshot wounds.

“A case of murder and hijacking has been opened. We are appealing to the community for any information regarding the incident, but we urge the public not to attempt to apprehend the suspects as they’re armed and dangerous,” Lefakane said.
