The Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) has condemned the cable theft that led to a power outage in the Randfontein CBD on Monday, September 13.
RWCLM spokesperson Phillip Monthsiway urged Rand West City residents to be on the lookout for vandals who are costing the municipality a lot of money as the stolen cables need to be replaced on a regular basis.
Criminals targeting the infrastructure have put the municipality under enormous pressure, he said.
“We urge people to be on the lookout for these thugs that are crippling our budget.”
