Mapogo’s latest crime report: Five incidents, mostly housebreaking and theft

Housebreaking and theft were on top of the list with five incidents being reported.

It was a busy week for Mapogo A Mathamaga Security with numerous incidents being reported in Randfontein.

Operations manager at Mapogo, Ben Willemse said five incidents were reported for their client base for the period between Monday, August 30 and Sunday, September 5.

A breakdown of the crime incidents:

• Wednesday, September 1 at 07:15 – Housebreaking and theft on Main Reef Road, Randfontein CBD. Intruders gained entry by breaking palisade bars at the rear of the premises and stealing a large number of empty gas bottles.

• Wednesday, September 1 at 14:59 – Housebreaking and theft on Luipaard Street, Greenhills. Intruders forced open the security gate, gained entry into the house and stole an unknown number of household goods.

• Friday, September 3 at 05:15 – Housebreaking and theft on Railway Avenue, Randfontein CBD. Intruders gained entry onto the property, broke into the client’s garage and stole an unknown number of items.

• Friday, September 3 at 17:07 – Theft in Homestead Avenue, Homelake. Intruders gained entry onto the property and stole a solar panel from the roof of the premises.

• Saturday, September 4 at 16:16 – Attempted theft on Kameel Street, Greenhills. Intruders gained entry by climbing over the gate of the property where they attempted to steal copper pipes and brass water taps. Response units arrested the two suspects whilst attempting to flee the scene. They were handed over to the police for further investigation.

Willemse explained that Mapogo continuously focuses on pro-active visibility and crime prevention throughout the Randfontein area.
