The West Rand District Health Department is once again inviting the community to get free Covid-19 tests done at their sites this week. Everyone aged 18 and older can get vaccinated on Saturdays as well.

The department’s communications officer, Nomagugu Hloma said in addition to the coronavirus tests, HIV, TB and blood pressure tests will be done for free this week from Wednesday, September 1 to Saturday, September 4.

The sites are operational from 09:00 to 15:00.

Testing will be done at the following sites:

• Wednesday, September 1 at Mohlakeng Extention 7 and Bekkersdal Gana Section (Ward 33)

• Thursday, September 2 at Baipei (Ward 3) and Bekkersdal Spooktown Taxi Rank

• Friday, September 3 at Randfontein Post Office (SASSA) and Westonaria Post Office (SASSA)

• Saturday, September 4 at Ramosa Hall in Mohlakeng

Hloma said on the other days residents can get tested at their local clinics and healthcare facilities.

Vaccination sites are now also open in Rand West City on Saturdays from 09:00 to 13:00 at Greenhills Stadium, the Westonaria Banquet Hall and Ramosa Hall in Mohlakeng.

Hloma added they are urging people who are 18 and older to get vaccinated on Saturdays. Walk-ins are accepted in Gauteng, and all you need to get your jab is your ID or other specified proof of identity.
